NEVER QUIT
The elite reconnaissance unit of the United States Armed Forces – FORCE RECONNAISSANCE – is a group of Marines that up their game and purpose, while serving. Precision, dedication, focus, extreme stamina, and their history, make these modern-day Spartan warriors, hidden in plain sight, a mystery. Unlike other special forces, the Force community is not well known outside their own.
FORCE begins by looking at the history of the how and when this unit was formed. The 32nd Commandant of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) General Jim Jones’ father was one of the founders of Reconnaissance, while General Al Gray, 29th Commandant of the USMC (and former Recon Sergeant), further developed the unit during the Korean War, and into Vietnam. Both these former Commandants are slated to be interviewed for the film.
Interviews are scheduled with those that served in FORCE, from Vietnam, the Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan, and in-between. Their stories add to the filming of the extreme training, at several locations throughout the bases within the United States, that develop and create the ethos of NEVER QUIT, as embodied in their Creed. “…Forever shall I strive to maintain the tremendous reputation of those who went before me…”
Why now? Why Force Reconnaissance? Interest in Military History is a growing market. Perhaps it is the need for structure that includes dedication to others, or the fascination with the training and execution of Force Reconnaissance warriors. FORCE addresses both of those ideas by looking at the development of the unit, while hearing first-hand from those that lived, and still live by the code, and seeing their training up-close. The documentary is set to inspire those that are looking for the why behind “Never Quit” in the face of challenge.
